"I'm going to college"

Mommy (who is being called "Mother" this morning) was sitting on the couch knitting when Johnny , with an arm full of squishy toys, came up to her.
"Good bye Mother, we are leaving now"
"Where are you going?"
"We are going to college, both of us."
"But I don't want you to go to college."
"Don't worry, Mother, college is right here."
Johnny then walked over to the library corner of the living room and sat down in the chair calling for his sister to join him in college.

For the last 20 minutes he has been walking back and forth from "college" with an arm full of squishy toys (stuffed animals) telling me that he is home and then that he is leaving again. His sister still refuses to follow him to college.

One day he really will leave for college and I want to remember this moment, when college is just the other side of the room where the books are, and the most important things he needed to take were his sister and his stuffed elephant.

Lots of Park Pictures

Another summer day and it is beautiful outside, so why wouldn't we head to the park.

I feel like I haven't been taking enough pictures of so we took my camera with us and didn't stop using it for more then an hour.

I am constantly surprised how old, big and capable Johnny is, he is growing far too fast!

On our walk to the park someone told us that Lily was a little ray of sunshine!!! Her eyes have been glowing lately and I become mesmerized by them very often.

One of Johnny's best friends live very close to the park and when he caught sight of her headed to the park he ran full speed for her!

He was so happy to have a friend to play with.

Morgan and her family will be leaving for Germany soon, and that is the life of an Army brat.

We still have some summer left, and it is wonderful!

Earthquake?

That is right we had our own east coast earthquake today!!! Crazy right? It was a 5.8 and lasted less then 3 minutes!! The center was DC but it covered more then 20 states. It was very strange, but made us giggle and woke the kids up from their naps.

Playing Camp Out

We have gone camping 3 times this summer and the kids LOVE it!! They both sleep well in a tent and look so cute running around dirty and shoeless in nature. Johnny loves it so much that he has started to play "camp out" where he gathers flash lights, blankets, pillows and his sleeping bag and pretends he is outside at night.

Lily also really loves her brother, who she now calls "YaYa" and when he gets on her level she is all over him and the two of them just kind of roll around and laugh.

They are just amazing and wonderful children, I am so lucky.

Getting Ready for School

Yes, you read that right, Johnny is preparing for his first year of Pre-School!!!! Scary right? 3 and half years ago school was the last thing on my mind, it seemed like a million years away. But Kindergarten really is only 2 years away and we wanted to make sure our smart little boy has every opportunity to succeed!! So 2 days a week for 2 and half hours a day Johnny will be learning and playing and sitting in a class room like a big boy.

Mommy and Johnny have spent the summer learning everything we can. We focused on colors, shapes and letters, but this week we started on tracing and writing! He loves doing his work books and earning stickers for each page that he completes.

Yesterday we got the packet from Johnny's school with his official start days and school supply list, so today we headed to Target to get him everything he would need.

Mommy made a "toddler" sized backpack, but it proved to be too small to hold everything the school wants to send home every day, so Johnny got to pick out a new back pack. This camo one was our first option.

But in the end this is the back pack he choose, Mommy is going to put some dinos and his name on it with the embroidery machine.

Johnny was so excited to get his crayons and glue sticks and fat pencils that he carried it all around in a shopping basket by himself as we walked around the store.

And just becuase Lily is adorable, here is she, smiling the day away as she always does.

Yes I am ignoring the fact that I am super behind in my blog posts. I have decided to just pick up and move on. I love blogging for my kids and this is their baby books, but the over load of back posts that I want to do was just keeping me from getting back to this. So I will back date birthdays and our recent vacation, but that is it, sorry!
