Johnny has taken a recent interest in the camera, so I thought I would try to be artistic and have fun...this is what happened...

Johnny went to visit the range (where they were letting civilians fire blanks at computerized targets) and visit with our friend Jerome...the medic, he cut our little Johnny a custom pair of ear protection...isn't he cute...and he wasn't bothered by them at all!!!!!

Fort Riley had their annual Apple Days and Fall festival today. We happily took Johnny and had a lot of fun!!! He had apple juice and Shawn and I had apple pie...oh I wanted to send one Papa, but Shawn I couldn't figure out how. We saw animals and soldiers singing. We visited and showed Johnny off, of course everyone loves him, and he was so so so good. He like the animals, thought the teeth on the lama mad us run away and he tried to eat all the cages.

So on a side note today is Shawn and mines 5 year date anniversary. 5 years today Shawn and I had our first date and started what would eventually turn into this beautiful family. To celebrate we had steak, mashed potatoes and green beans...oh sooooo good...Johnny got his first taste of fresh bananas. We cut them up and let him go to town. Needless to say they where EVERWHERE. But he had such a good time playing with them and Shawn loved playing with them with him. It was adorable.

PERFECT!!!

Our little monkey had his 6 month well baby appt today and as we all knew he is a perfect little creature. The nurse practitioner just loved him, he kept grabbing everything and looking around, like he was going to be able to remember it all. He is officially 21 pds and 29 inches...95th percentile but hight and weight are on track with each other...so he isn't fat...though he will always be my chub chub:) There are no worries about anything! He has some respiratory stuff which mean poor little thing inherited Mommy's allergies and now I can give him benidril. He will be moving out of his carrier and into a rear facing upright car seat next month, since he can roll over I don't have to freak out when he rolls himself on his belly to sleep. He had three more shots and did so well, he cried at first, but the moment I picked him up he just smiled at the nurse. I didn't make myself watch the shots go in this time (watching that needle perice his chubby little thigh always makes me cry and get angry at the nurse) I made him look into my eyes and I held him tight.

I can't say how lucky we are to have the little monkey be so healthy. I have been reading a lot lately, everything has gone so well. despite Shawn being in Iraq for the pregnancy, we have had NO complications!!! We have truly been blessed. I know it sounds weird, but I feel a little guilty to be so blessed, like how could I possibly deserve all of this? What did I do? All I can do now is work hard to earn his love and the right to be his mommy. I just hope we can give him the blessings he has given us.

Times I love

I have recently been very happy. I know crazy to think :) But there are these moments during everyday when I am so happy it overwhelms me. Every week end morning when Johnny, Shawn and me wake up. It always starts with Johnny just looking at us (we aren't sure how long before us he wakes up) but as soon as he sees our eyes open he just looks at us and his face is taken over with that breath taking smile. Then the three of us lay in bed and play. We tickle and giggle and cuddle together for as long as we can. It is like a fairy tale.

In the evenings, every day, after Shawn comes home and we have eaten and cleaned up, again the three of us lay on the coach or floor and roll around. It is so fun to watch Johnny react and to make up the inner monologue. He grabs Shawn by the nose and bites his face, then makes a horrified face as if to say "Daddy you need a shower." I know it doesn't sound like much, but he does so many adorable things and to have all three of us together it is a fairy tale. Then there is the Monkey bath given by Shawn and in inevitable call for "Momma" to see something that Shawn thinks is adorable, but of course Johnny won't do it again...I love it.

Every day can't be like this, but it feels like it is. I miss my family so much I just start crying. My daddy is flying all over the world and Mommy is at home. Ella is doing cute things and I miss them and my nephew grows and I can't see or be involved. I love you all so much, I wish you could be involved in this daily here. I take a lot of comfort in knowing you are proud of me and that I can always come home, thank you for giving me this life and the ability to enjoy it!!!

On Friday Shawn officially turned 25 years old. It was a simple day. Shawn more or less just likes getting special food. Johnny and me took Burger King to him at work and I made his favorite meal for dinner...shake and bake pork chops, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, and creamed corn. He enjoyed it! Perfect timing Shawn received sweet and funny cards from Illinois, cloths and netflix from Maryland, school books from the other side of Oakwood ln and many phone calls. Thank you to everyone!!!! Johnny got his daddy a book of native America legends that hopefully one day they can read together and mommy got daddy leather bracers to wear at the renn fest next month, Octoberfest beer and cupcakes!! All in all we just relaxed and enjoyed not having to get up early the next morning. Thank you all!!

Growing up
